McPherson Festival Cancellation 2017

To All who have Contributed, Participated and Enjoyed our Festival

The McPherson Scottish Festival has enjoyed many years as a premier festival in the region. This is due in no small part to the quality and dedication of the volunteers, staff, and the City of McPherson staff and participants. The park venue was a favorite for visitors far and wide. The festival had participants from all fifty states and seven countries during its time. From the time that it started 23 years ago we have had numerous Clan Chieftains and presidents as guests to our Festival. A generation of children have grown up and learned of the Scottish Heritage of one of the unique cultures of the world right here at home. It is with sad reservation that I am informing you that the McPherson Scottish Festival and Festival of Cultures has been canceled for 2017. The future of this event is uncertain at this point. Due to the weather event on Saturday of the 2016, festival attendance shortfall and lack of volunteers was too much for the society to recover from and continue the festival for 2017. The society is continuing to look for ways that it can continue, maybe not as a festival as we would like, but in a way within our current means. We have not given up hope for a new festival, but at best it will be at a later date.

With that myself and the McPherson Scottish Society want to thank all that have participated, volunteered, sponsored and promoted the festival over the years. It has been a glorious journey and has been a pleasure to be involved in.
